The Golden Gates Casin o poker room under Yanchunis has turned Black Hawk into a premier poker destination by hosting poker series from the Mid-States Poker Tour, Heartland Poker Tour and now the.

Season 5 of the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) continues from Nov. 7-16 at the Golden Gates Casino in Blackhawk, Colorado. The stop will feature a $200,000 guaranteed $1,100 buy-in Main Event beginning with Day 1a on Thursday, Nov. 13 at 12 p.m. Two subsequent starting flights will be held at the same time on both Friday and Saturday.

This marks the second time the MSPT has visited the property. The first time, which took place in March of this year, 453 entrants took to the felt and crushed the guarantee by creating a prize pool of $453,000. Dan Colpoys, who bagged the Day 2 chip lead and going wire to wire on Day 3, won that tournament for $114,156.

“The Mid-States Poker Tour is excited to return to Colorado. Golden Gates Casino knows how to host a big-time poker tournament, which was evidenced by our first stop at the property. We’re expecting things to be even bigger and better the second time around,” said MSPT owner and operator Bryan Mileski.

The MSPT Golden Gates is also one of the last opportunities players will have to accumulate precious Player of the Year points. Right now Michael Deis leads that race with 3,350 points, but MSPT Team Pro Kou Vang, who finished fifth in the last MSPT Golden Gates, is hot on his heels with 3,100 points. Likewise, Jason Zarlenga, who has won two MSPT titles this season, is sitting with the same amount of points. For a look at the full MSPT Season 5 POY leaderboard, click here.

“Our property sits in the center of Blackhawk’s casino district and is surrounded by the magnificent rocky mountains. We also have a beautiful creek running alongside the property,” Golden Gates Casino Poker Room Manager Tony Niehauspreviously told PokerNews. “The scenic views of Blackhawk are amazing and just a short drive on any road will lead to spectacular views and even natural wildlife sightings. Just up the street is old town Central City that brings an old western feel to gambling. The ski resorts are just a one-hour drive from the casinos and offer unmatched skiing and entertainment.”

Niehaus went on to add: “Our property was newly renovated last year and has been on the rise ever since. We opened a new buffet, expanded our casino floor for even more of the newest slots around, and renovated our poker room with brand new chairs, tables, carpet, flat screen televisions and high-speed wireless internet.”

Black Hawk, CO (July24, 2018) – Ben Brown collected $159,131 Monday afternoon afterdefeating a field of 763 entrants in the HeartlandPoker Tour (HPT) Main Event from Golden Gates Casino & Poker Parlour. This was the largest score of the Grand Junction man’s career on the felt.

“Honestly, I just ran really well,” said Brown after the win. “I’mkind of speechless right now.”

The defining point of the tournament came early in the day whenthe two biggest stacks at the table collided in a hand. Brown won a 10-millionchip pot off of Evergreen’s Chris Tryba with pocket kings over pocket queens. Thathand awarded Brown nearly half the chips in the pot and he never looked back.

In the end, Rich Dixon was the final player standing betweenBrown and the title. Brown had more than a five to one chip lead and heads upplay only lasted a few hands. This was Dixon’s second appearance at a televisedHPT final table. The Cheyenne, Wyoming man collected $98,509 for his runner-upfinish.

“I’m feeling great,” Dixon said. “It was a lot of fun today.”

Casino battled his way through the day before finding himself shortstacked with four players left. He put the last of his chips into the middlewith queen-ten only to be called by Dixon’s pocket jacks. The board ran cleanfor Dixon and Casino was eliminated in fourth place for $44,629.
